Born on June 12, 1932, in Palakkad, Kerala, Dr. Elattuvalapil Sreedharan's journey into engineering began with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Government Engineering College, Kozhikode.

Often referred to as the "Man of the Millennium" and the "Railway Man of India," his dedication and tireless efforts led to the successful completion of the Konkan Railway project—an engineering marvel spanning 760 kilometers of rugged terrain and more than 2,000 bridges.

Dr. Sreedharan's engineering prowess was demonstrated early in his career when he played a pivotal role in the reconstruction of the Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu after it was damaged by a cyclone in 1964.
