Approximately 86,000 square meters of land slipped, leading to significant destruction of houses and infrastructure. The landslide triggered a major debris flow, widening the course of the Iruvaiphuzha River and breaching its banks. Entire villages were flattened, and many residents are feared trapped under thick layers of mud. Rescue teams, including personnel from the Indian Army and National Disaster Response Force, are working tirelessly to reach those in need. More than 300 people were killed in the landslide.
