BRICS Fashion Summit: The Fashion Agenda for the Global South Is Taking Form in Russia
The global forum, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, will once again take place in the capital of Russia from October 3 to 5. Leading experts from India, China, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and other promising regions will attend.
The fashion industries of the BRICS+ countries are striving for unification and collaboration. The BRICS+ Fashion Summit, held annually in Moscow, has become an effective platform for communication among members of the group. The BRICS+ countries represent a significant force and a global majority, which is a crucial asset for the fashion industries of this powerful bloc to leverage.

Akashdeep Singh, President of the Indian Business Council, addressed the increasing interest in the BRICS economies at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow in 2023: "The substantial interest in BRICS and BRICS+ is quite understandable. These nations have a combined population of 3.8 billion and cover an area of 47 million square kilometers, accounting for 63.4% of the globe and 38% of the global GDP. This economy is more robust than that of any other union. Therefore, it would be a significant mistake to underestimate the importance of this group."

Participants in the BRICS+ fashion market have long been seeking a platform to establish working relationships and exchange experience. According to SAMEEP SHASTR, Vice-Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry: "The BRICS countries and new members joining the alliance all have a rich cultural background. However, in terms of markets, they remain primarily local. The BRICS Fashion Summit serves as a platform that opens up opportunities for free trade in the fashion industry and fosters the emergence of new projects between countries. We can complement and support one another, demonstrating that the Global South is a significant force."
The new forum will provide even more tools for collaboration between the fashion economies of developing countries. The BRICS+ Fashion Summit will allow countries to discuss current sustainability issues, the use of new technologies, cultural identity, and conduct important trade agreements. Participation in this major fashion forum is free, making it a truly large-scale and democratic event rather than an exclusive gathering "for the chosen few," as often occurs with such occasions.
Moscow Fashion Week will also be open to the public, offering an accessible platform for all attendees and serving as a vibrant finale to the international fashion calendar. At this event, the Indian brand NITIN BAL CHAUHAN will unveil its latest collection to a global audience.
