Yoga, surya namaskaar against the teachings of Islam: Muslim Board
New Delhi, June 8: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has decided to launch a nationwide campaign against making yoga and surya namaskaar compulsory in schools.
The decision comes after the Modi government decided to observe International Yoga Day on June 21.

The AIMPLB said that 'surya namaskaar' and 'yoga' go against the belief of Muslims and that these two activities must not be made compulsory in government schools.
AIMPLB demanded that the order must be cancelled and have decided to move court against it.
Meanhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had said in a Facebook post that ' the entire global community has come together in support of celebrating the first-ever International Day of Yoga on June 21.'
Modi has been sharing a post daily, covering various aspects of Yoga including different asanas.
The United Nations had in December last year declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day, with 177 countries voting in favour.
