Yamuna Clean-Up On Deadline, 1,000 Sprinklers To Curb Dust: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta
The Yamuna cleanup is moving along according to a timeline, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasised Thursday, as part of the government's targeted environmental initiatives.
"We will install 1,000 water sprinklers on streetlight poles to settle down dust on roads," CM Gupta told PTI, highlighting the administration's larger effort to reduce pollution in the city. She added that hundreds of officials and machines are spread out across different places to ensure speedy progress in the massive cleanup of the Yamuna, which includes desilting the drains.

CM Gupta also announced the creation of a new park on 50 acres of long-encroached land in Uttam Nagar, reaffirming the government's commitment to urban renewal. For years, the Flood and Irrigation Department's 50 acres of land were underutilized and encroached upon. We have now made the decision to turn it into a lovely public park," she stated.
Road construction is being given priority before the monsoon, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma added. "We want to recarpet roads all over Delhi and are working to build as many roads as we can before the rains come." Roads should never be left dusty because this adds to pollution. We're doing everything we can to avoid waterlogging during the rainy season.
As part of the ongoing cleanup efforts as part of the capital's larger infrastructure and environmental overhaul, CM Gupta inspected the supplementary drain at Wazirabad earlier in the day with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Minister Parvesh Verma.
