Who Is Sneha Debnath? Tripura Teen Missing In Delhi Since July 7, Still No Breakthrough

A 19-year-old girl from Tripura, Sneha Debnath, has been missing in Delhi for six days under mysterious circumstances, with no leads, CCTV footage, or bank activity to aid the investigation.

Sneha, a student of Delhi University's Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, last contacted her parents on July 7. According to her family, she had not withdrawn money from her bank account in the last four months and left without taking any of her belongings.

The situation took a troubling turn when Sneha texted her family at 5:56 am on July 7, informing them she was heading to Sarai Rohilla station to meet a friend named Pitunia. However, when Sneha's phone became unreachable after three hours, her family contacted Pitunia, who confirmed that the meeting never took place.

Later, her family tracked down the cab driver who had transported Sneha that morning. He stated that he dropped her near Delhi's Signature Bridge. Unfortunately, due to inadequate CCTV surveillance in the area, police have been unable to trace her movements after she exited the cab.

Following her disappearance, Delhi Police, in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), launched an extensive search operation covering a seven-kilometre radius around the Signature Bridge area. Despite the massive effort, no concrete clues have emerged, even a week after her disappearance.

The case has now gained attention from Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. After learning about the incident, the Chief Minister directed Tripura Police to coordinate with Delhi authorities and take swift action.

The Chief Minister's Office posted an update on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister's Office. Following this, necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police to take immediate and appropriate action."

The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing efforts to locate the missing student.
