Today's Weather Report: IMD Forecast For Rain In Delhi; Know When Monsoon Will Arrive In National Capital

People of Delhi are likely to get some relief from the scorching heat as monsoon is expected to arrive early than usual this time. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) prediction, the monsoon will reach Delhi by the third week of June, which is about 10 days ahead of its typical schedule.

Recent weather patterns have shown a significant increase in humidity and scattered pre-monsoon thunderstorms in Delhi. These changes indicate the approaching monsoon, providing hope for cooler days ahead. The maximum temperature in Delhi soared above 43 degrees Celsius recently, with heatwave warnings issued due to temperatures being higher than normal over the past two weeks.

The IMD has forecasted that between June 14 and 17, Delhi might experience a temperature drop to 37-42 degrees Celsius. This change will be accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds. These weather conditions are expected to provide relief from the recent heatwave that has affected the region.

As the monsoon progresses further northward, it is likely to reach western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and eventually Delhi between June 19 and 25.

Monsoon Progress Across India

The monsoon has regained strength after a brief pause, particularly affecting South India. Since Wednesday, regions such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Konkan, and Maharashtra have experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall. This resurgence signals a swift northward advance of the monsoon system across other parts of India.

The second phase of the monsoon is set to cover eastern India soon. According to IMD reports, states like West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh will receive rains within the next week. Following this phase, the monsoon will move towards northwest India.
