TN likely to go to single-phase election; dates to be announced next week, says report
New Delhi, Feb 25: The dates for polling in four states, including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Assam will be announced next week by the Election Commission (EC).
According to reports, the election dates will be declared following a meeting between the EC officials after March 1. The dates are likely to be announced before March 6, it was added.
It has been reported that election in Tamil Nadu would be held either in the last week of April or first week of May. The southern state is likely to go to a single-phase election, unlike West Bengal and Assam.
The DMK and Congress have entered into an alliance for this year's election. The AIADMK swept the 2011 elections by winning 150 of the 234 seats in the Assembly.
