Suspended BJP Leader Nupur Sharma Meets Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the nation's capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who was suspended. A video of the two leaders chanting "Jai Shree Ram" together was posted online to commemorate the meeting.​

After making divisive comments about Prophet Muhammad during a television debate, Nupur Sharma, a former national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was suspended from the party in June 2022.

These remarks caused diplomatic ties with a number of Islamic nations to deteriorate and sparked massive protests throughout India. The Supreme Court had granted Sharma protection from arrest in multiple FIRs related to the incident.

Chief Minister Gupta addressed the problem of food, especially chapati, being thrown on roads in a different development. She saw a man throwing a chapati from his car during an inspection, most likely to feed a stray cow. She pulled over and cautioned him against doing so, pointing out that chapati is more than just food; it is a representation of culture, religion, and decency. As food attracts animals to busy roads, putting both pedestrians and animals in danger, Gupta emphasized.

She promoted responsible and polite behavior by urging people to feed animals at approved locations, such as gaushalas.​

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Chief Minister Gupta also greeted the people of Delhi and offered prayers at Sankat Mochan Dham, Siddh Hanuman Mandir in Karol Bagh.​
