South Delhi May Get Traffic Relief Soon – Two New Underpasses Planned, Key Details Inside

The Public Works Department (PWD) intends to build two new underpasses at strategic choke points in order to address the ongoing traffic congestion in South Delhi. The goal of these infrastructure initiatives is to facilitate traffic flow in densely populated areas, especially during rush hour.

Two intersections in Greater Kailash-II that frequently see significant traffic delays-Chirag Delhi and Savitri Cinema-are the sites of the proposed underpasses. For both sites, the PWD has started design alignments and surveys. Project schedules should be made public in the upcoming months after the preliminary documentation is finished.

The goal of the Savitri Cinema underpass is to make it easier to get from Greater Kailash to Nehru Place and relieve the heavy traffic load on the Outer Ring Road. Officials say the preliminary feasibility study is finished and construction design work has started, but the project is still in the approval stage.

By enhancing traffic flow toward Nehru Place and Panchsheel Park, the Chirag Delhi underpass aims to relieve congestion in the BRT corridor and its environs. It is anticipated that this addition will help daily commuters and cut down on Outer Ring Road delays.

There is severe traffic congestion in both the Chirag Delhi and Malviya Nagar-Greater Kailash zones, especially during rush hours. The Delhi government hopes that the thousands of commuters who use these routes every day will find a great deal of relief from these underpasses.

By resolving long-standing bottlenecks and enhancing connectivity between significant neighborhoods and business centers, the projects represent the PWD's larger plan to upgrade South Delhi's infrastructure.

When finished, the underpasses should improve traffic flow, shorten travel times, and provide a sustainable answer to one of the capital's most urgent urban problems.
