Soumya Viswanathan death case: SC stays bail for accused
New Delhi, July 10: Supreme Court stayed order granting bail to one of the accused, Ravi Kapoor in Journalist Soumya Viswanathan death case. He was earlier granted bail by Delhi High Court. Soumya Vishwanathan, a TV journalist, was shot dead on Nelson Mandela Marg in south Delhi in September 2008.

The same gang was involved in the murder of BPO employee Jigisha Ghosh. After arresting Jigisha's killers, the Delhi Police had announced that the same three men had killed Soumya too. Robbery had been attributed as the motive in the two murders.
The Delhi police arrested Ravi Kapoor, Baljeet Singh Malik, Amit Shukla, Ajay Kumar and Ajay Sethi who were also allegedly involved in the murder of a call center executive Jigisha Ghosh.
Kapoor, Shukla and Malik were earlier convicted and sentenced in the 2009 murder case of IT executive Jigisha Gosh. While Kapoor and Shukla were given death penalty, Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in August 2016.
