Seemapuri Constituency Result 2025: Can Veer Singh Dhingan Make A Comeback With AAP?
Seemapuri is one of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi, located in the North East Delhi district. It is part of the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency and is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The area known as New Seemapuri began as a slum settlement in 1970, initially inhabited by a large number of refugees from Bengal and Bangladesh. Over time, people from various Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh also settled here.

In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, held on February 5, the main candidates contesting from Seemapuri were:
Veer Singh Dhingan from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP): He has a 10th-grade education from Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya in 1989 and declared assets worth Rs 58,37,000. Notably, Dhingan previously represented Seemapuri from 1998 to 2013 as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) before joining AAP in 2024.
Ku. Rinku from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): She completed her 10th-grade education from the CBSE Board at Green Field School, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, in 1990, and declared assets amounting to Rs 90,56,365.
Rajesh Lilothia from the Indian National Congress (INC): He holds a postgraduate degree, M.Sc. in Disaster Mitigation from Sikkim Manipal University, obtained in 2005, and declared assets totalling Rs 5,05,45,167.

In the previous 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Rajendra Pal Gautam from AAP won the Seemapuri seat with 88,392 votes, accounting for 65.82 per cent of the total votes. His closest competitor was Sant Lal from the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), who received 32,284 votes (24.04 per cent), while Congress candidate Veer Singh Dhingan garnered 7,661 votes (5.70 per cent).
The voter turnout in Seemapuri for the 2025 elections was 65.3 per cent, reflecting a slight decrease from the 68.48 per cent turnout in 2020. This mirrors a broader trend across Delhi, where the overall voter turnout dipped to 60.42 per cent, the lowest since 2008., according to Times Of India.
As of now, the results of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections are pending and will be declared on February 8. The outcome in Seemapuri is keenly awaited, given its diverse electorate and the presence of prominent candidates.
