Schools Registration May Get Canceled: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's "Zero Tolerance" Stance On School Fee Hike
Taking cognizance of parents' complaints over schools raising fees, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday pulled up private schools and announced stringent stance against the unregulated fee increases imposed by private schools. She said her government will not allow any kind of exploitation or unfair treatment of students and their families.
This declaration came to light after parents voiced their grievances regarding the illicit fee surge at Queen Mary School, leading to the expulsion of students who protested against these hikes.

In response, CM Rekha Gupta took immediate action, and warned school authorities of cancellation of the school's registration. She also shared a video on her social media handle, underscoring the government's commitment to justice and transparency in the educational sector.
"Any form of injustice, exploitation and irregularity will be tackled with a zero tolerance policy. Our pledge is clear -- every child should get justice, respect and quality education," she said.
In the video, CM said, "There are rules and regulations (for fee hikes) that must be followed. If any school is found indulging in all these, it will have to suffer. We will issue notices to all schools we have received complaints about," showcasing the government's zero tolerance policy towards any deviation from established norms regarding fee adjustments.
Delhi government's stance is not just about enforcing laws but also about ensuring that every child gets a quality education free from financial burdens.
Earlier, AAP leaders accused BJP's alleged affiliations with educational institutions accused of fee hikes.
Former Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said a connection between Bharat Arora, president of the Association of Unaided Private Schools, and the BJP, insinuating that the recent government formation has led to a surge in school fees.
This allegation introduces a complex layer to the ongoing discourse, suggesting potential political motivations behind the fee hike issue.
