New Delhi, Feb 7: Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti on Friday attacked former cricketer

, saying a cricketer who got auctioned in an event like Indian Premier League, can't be a pride of India. She said it was a mistake to give Tendulkar the

award.

Tendulkar was recently conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the first sportsperson to have won the highest civilian award of the nation. Noted scientist from south Prof CNR Rao was also given the award along with Tendulkar.

Another politician KC Tyagi, a member of the JD(U) also took a jibe at Tendulkar, saying he should not endorse any brand after winning the Bharat Ratna award.

Tendulkar, a Rajya Sabha member of the Congress, is also the youngest recipient of the award.
