Republic Day Travel Advisory: Air India Shares Some Key Tips For Delhi Flights

Air India has issued a crucial travel advisory for passengers travelling to and from Delhi between January 19 and 26, 2025, due to Republic Day celebrations and associated restrictions in the national capital. The airline urges travellers to allow for extra time to reach the airport and check the status of their flights before departure.

Republic Day Restrictions: Plan Ahead

Air India

With Republic Day just around the corner, the city will experience heightened security measures and traffic restrictions that may impact airport access. Air India recommends passengers to factor in these potential delays and plan their travel accordingly. To avoid inconvenience, travellers should regularly check flight statuses for any updates or changes.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Air India shared an important update for the flyers. They wrote," Passengers travelling to and from Delhi between 19 & 26 Jan 2025, are requested to allow themselves more time and check the status of their flights before heading to the airport, due to Republic Day restrictions."

Fog and Poor Visibility May Affect Flight Operations

On January 15, 2025, a dense layer of fog reduced visibility across Delhi, further complicating the situation. Air India also highlighted the potential disruption of flight operations due to poor visibility and congestion at the airport. This cautionary advice was issued as the city battles cold waves, which are contributing to poor air quality levels.

Impact of Poor Air Quality

Delhi's air quality has deteriorated into the 'very poor' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 344, up from 252 the previous day. Several areas, including Lodhi Road, Mandir Marg, and Vivek Vihar, reported AQI readings above 300, signalling severe pollution. The AQI ranges from 0 to 50 for 'good' to 301-400 for 'very poor' and beyond.

Take Precautions and Stay Informed

Passengers are urged to stay informed about potential delays, check for updates, and reach out to the airline's contact centre for further assistance. Given the ongoing weather conditions and air pollution, it is essential to allow extra time for travel and exercise caution during your journey to ensure a safe and timely arrival.
