Rains lash parts of Delhi, humidity up

New Delhi, Jun 30: Rains lashed parts of the national capital on Friday evening, causing the humidity level to shoot up to 90 per cent even as the mercury settled at a notch below normal.

"The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal while the minimum settled at 27.9 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year," a Meteorological official said.

The humidity levels oscillated between 90 and 59 per cent.

While the Safdarjung observatory recorded 8.4 mm rainfall, traces of rain were recorded by the Palam observatory. The Lodhi Road and Aya Nagar observatory recorded 4.7 mm and 10.4 mm rainfall respectively.

Monsoon arrived in the national capital yesterday and the weatherman has forecast rains and thundershowers in few areas tomorrow.

"The skies will remain cloudy and there is possibility of thundershowers in various areas of the city later in the day tomorrow," an official of the department said.

The official also said that the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 36 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature recorded was 24.2 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature settled at 35.2 degree Celsius.
