PM Modi To Inaugurate ₹11,000 Crore Highway Projects In Delhi Tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major National Highway projects in Delhi on Sunday, aimed at easing traffic congestion and strengthening connectivity across the NCR. Together, the projects are worth nearly ₹11,000 crore and are expected to significantly improve road infrastructure in the capital.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for around 12:30 p.m. in Rohini, where the Prime Minister will also address a public gathering. The two projects - the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) - form a crucial part of the government's strategy to reduce congestion, cut down travel time, and enhance overall mobility in and around Delhi.

The Delhi segment of the Dwarka Expressway, spanning 10.1 km, has been built at a cost of about ₹5,360 crore. This stretch is designed to provide seamless multi-modal connectivity, linking Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot. Out of the total stretch, 5.9 km runs from the Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21, while another 4.2 km connects Dwarka Sector-21 to the Delhi-Haryana border. Earlier in March 2024, PM Modi inaugurated the 19 km Haryana section of the same expressway.

The second project - the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II - has been developed at a cost of approximately ₹5,580 crore. It includes new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat and is expected to ease traffic on Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads, as well as at key choke points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.

By providing direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, UER-II will help reduce congestion, boost the movement of goods across the NCR, and enhance industrial connectivity. Officials noted that the project will significantly streamline traffic flow while supporting Delhi's economic and infrastructural growth.

These initiatives are part of the Centre's broader vision to develop world-class infrastructure in the capital, ensuring smoother travel, faster goods transport, and an overall improvement in the ease of living for citizens.
