Officials sent home by Prakash Javadekar for being late to work

According to a press release from the ministry, Javadekar ordered that those who did not arrive in office by 9.15 am should take a day off as a punishment. He instructed that the staff must maintain decorum in the office and be on time.
Around 40 ministers were sent home for being late while close to 100 were missing from their desks. This comes to light after Narendra Modi asked his ministers and their respective ministeries to give more priority to efficiency without any delays.
The new government has ordered bureaucrats to focus on the swift disposal of files; civil servants have been warned they will be held responsible and penalised for delays in decision-making.
Modi himself at times has inspected offices at the PMO to ensure that officials are on time.
