No Police Permission Needed For Construction: Delhi's Rekha Gupta Govt Shares Circular
Construction Regulations in Delhi
Following Amit Shah's directive that Delhi Police permission is not needed for construction matters, the Delhi Government on Saturday issued a circular in this regard. The document clarified that building activities are governed by the MCD and other local bodies. It highlighted sections of the DMC Act, 1957, which outline the processes for layout plans, building plan sanctions, and occupancy certificates.
The circular stressed that there is no requirement under the DMC Act for police approval in construction activities. However, it noted that police might need to inform the MCD about certain offences or investigations related to construction. The circular aimed to dispel misconceptions about needing police permission for building work and urged officials to prevent misuse of these provisions.

Addressing Illegal Immigration and Drug Issues
Amit Shah emphasized the importance of preventing illegal immigrants from Bangladesh from entering Delhi. He instructed strict measures against those facilitating their entry and stay. The Home Minister also highlighted the need to dismantle narcotics networks using a comprehensive approach.
Efforts will be intensified to identify and deport illegal immigrants as part of a broader strategy against those residing unlawfully in India. Plans are underway to tackle street crime effectively, with police directed not to engage in construction-related matters in unauthorized colonies.
Senior officials from the Delhi Police gathered at their headquarters to discuss follow-up actions after a law and order meeting led by Amit Shah. The focus was on enhancing vigilance against street crime, improving safety for senior citizens and women, and addressing gang-related issues.
Enhancing Public Safety
The meeting chaired by Amit Shah included discussions on improving safety for women, children, and senior citizens. Measures were proposed to strengthen law enforcement in Delhi. Amit Shah expressed confidence that a double-engine government would accelerate efforts for a safer city.
Amit Shah directed that interstate gangs should be eliminated with determination. He also instructed DCP-level officers to visit police stations, organize public hearings, and address community concerns directly.
Community Engagement Initiatives
Amit Shah proposed forming 25 security committees in JJ clusters as a pilot project. The initiative aims to assess their effectiveness before expanding further. This approach seeks to enhance community involvement in maintaining safety.
The Home Minister stressed that police stations failing in their duties should face strict action. He advocated for a 'top-to-bottom' and 'bottom-to-top' strategy in handling narcotics cases, ensuring comprehensive network dismantling.
