The battle for the New Delhi assembly seat in the 2025 elections is shaping up to be a high-stakes contest between two prominent political figures-Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit. Arvind Kejriwal: Will the Three-Time CM Retain Power?

Arvind Kejriwal, the current Chief Minister of Delhi, is not just a politician but a symbol of the anti-corruption movement in India. A former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Kejriwal founded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2012 after gaining prominence in the India Against Corruption movement.

His political journey began with a stunning entry into the Delhi Legislative Assembly in 2013, followed by a massive mandate in 2015 with 67 out of 70 seats, and a reaffirmed victory in 2020 with 62 seats. Known for his governance reforms and grassroots activism, Kejriwal has been a vocal critic of the BJP and has often clashed with the Central government over various administrative issues.

Parvesh Verma: BJP's Challenger

Parvesh Verma is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader entering the race with a formidable political background. Son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, Parvesh has a track record of electoral success.

In 2013, he won the Mehrauli assembly seat, defeating AAP's Narinder Singh Sejwal and Congress's Dr. Yoganand Shastri by 4,564 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Election, Verma secured the West Delhi parliamentary constituency, defeating AAP's Jarnail Singh and sitting Congress MP Mahabal Mishra by a margin of 2,68,586 votes.

Verma repeated his success in the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, winning by a record margin of 5,78,486 votes, again defeating Mahabal Mishra and AAP candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar.

Despite these victories, the BJP denied him a ticket in the 2024 parliamentary elections, making this assembly election a critical comeback opportunity for Verma. Now, he faces the daunting task of challenging two of Delhi's political stalwarts-Kejriwal and Dikshit.

Who Will Win the 2025 New Delhi Election? With Arvind Kejriwal seeking a fourth term, Sandeep Dikshit aiming to revive Congress's fortunes, and Parvesh Verma attempting a political comeback, the New Delhi constituency is bracing for a fiercely contested battle. The result will not only determine the political future of these leaders but could also reshape the power dynamics in the national capital.
