Vallabhbhai Patel's ideology and heritage cannot be forgotten: Narendra Modi
New Delhi, Oct 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid his tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and said that ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's ideology and heritage cannot be forgotten.'
Speaking at the Run for Unity event, Modi said: "After Chanakya, it was Sardar Patel who strung India together with unity. He contributed immensely to India's unity."
Modi also added that Sardar Patel started a Swachta Abhiyaan that went on for 222 days.
Modi also pitched 'Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat' initiative at the Run For Unity event and said that the initiative will be about states recognising and learning about another state's culture and language.

Modi also remembered Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary and said: "As we are commemorating Vallabhbhai Patel, we also remember Indira Gandhi this day."
