Modi govt amends All India Services rules on bureaucrats' conduct

New Delhi, Aug 8: The Narendra Modi government has amended All India Services rules on the conduct of bureaucrats to ensure efficiency and transparency in bureaucracy.

The Centre has provided 19 points to the bureaucrats on ways of maintaining political neutrality and taking decisions on merit.

The BJP-led NDA government amended the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, in rule 3(1) after sub-rule (1) by inserting sub-rule (1A) and rule 3(2) after sub-rule (2A) by inserting sub-rule (2B) and these rules are called the All India Services (Conduct) Amendment Rules, 2014, reports said.

The provisions said that every member of the bureaucracy shall maintain high standards of ethics, integrity and honesty and political neutrality.

The bureaucrats have been guided on ways of neutrality and meritocracy

The prime minister had asked the bureaucrats to approach him directly to resolve issues and bring pace in decision-making. He had also asked secretaries to contact him directly for suggestions and intervention required to resolve issues.
