Indian Air Force fighter plane MIG 21 crashes; Omar Abdullah extends condolences
The MIG-21, which was on a routine exercise, crashed in the fields at Mirhama in Bijbehara area, defence sources said. Pilot Raghu Bansi was killed in the crash.
The MIG-21 had taken off from Technical Airport here on Tuesday morning. Cause of the crash was not immediately known. A team of IAF officials have rushed to the spot.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had tweeted, "Reports coming in of a Mig fighter having crashed in South Kashmir. Hope the pilot & the people on the ground are safe."
