Kalkaji Assembly Election Results (Delhi Poll): Delhi CM Atishi Defeats BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has emerged victorious from the Kalkaji Assembly seat. She defeated BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri in a closely-fought contest.
A High-Stakes Battle

Kalkaji has emerged as a key battleground, featuring three heavyweight contenders. The seat is witnessing an intense contest between the Chief Minister, a party's women's wing president, and a seasoned politician, making it one of the most closely watched races.
Traditionally a Congress stronghold, Kalkaji shifted to AAP's control in 2015. However, this year, the competition is expected to be much fiercer.
A Three-Way Contest
- Congress: Alka Lamba, a former AAP leader and current chief of the All India Mahila Congress, is contesting on a Congress ticket. Her past association with AAP adds an intriguing dynamic to the race.
- BJP: The party has fielded Ramesh Bidhuri, who was denied a ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Bidhuri, a two-time MP from South Delhi (2014 and 2019), is now looking to make a political comeback.
- AAP: Incumbent MLA and Chief Minister Atishi is seeking re-election, aiming to retain the seat. She secured victory in the 2020 elections with a margin of 11,000 votes.
With Atishi defending her seat, Alka Lamba re-entering the political fray, and Ramesh Bidhuri trying to reclaim ground, the Kalkaji battle has turned into a fierce triangular contest.
Kalkaji
Part of the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, Kalkaji was established as an Assembly segment in 1993. The BJP's Purnima Sethi won the first election, but Congress leader Subhash Chopra dominated for three consecutive terms until 2013.
In 2013, Harmeet Singh Kalka of the Shiromani Akali Dal secured victory, followed by AAP's Avtar Singh in 2015. Atishi won the seat in 2020, continuing AAP's dominance in the constituency.
Kalkaji is one of 10 Assembly segments under South Delhi, alongside Bijwasan, Sangam Vihar, Ambedkar Nagar, Chhatarpur, Deoli, Tughlakabad, Palam, Badarpur, and Mehrauli.
