Late-Night Shootout At Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate: One Hurt After Assailants Target Car With Five Occupants

In the latest development, at late night on Tuesday, a shooting incident in north Delhi's Kashmiri Gate area left one person injured after several rounds were fired at a car carrying five occupants. Police said the attack took place near the ISBT Kashmiri Gate area around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

What Happened in Kashmiri Gate

According to police officials, unidentified assailants opened fire at a car parked or moving near the busy transport hub. When officers reached the spot, they found that multiple bullets had been fired at the vehicle.

One of the passengers in the car suffered a bullet injury near his shoulder and was taken for medical treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma visited the location soon after the incident and confirmed that an investigation has begun.

Five Occupants in the Car

Police said five men were travelling in the car, identified as a Ciaz model. The injured person has been identified as Sandeep, who was seated in the back of the vehicle at the time of the firing.

One of the occupants, Deepak Khatri, told police that he is an advocate and represents gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. However, officials said his claim is being verified as part of the investigation.

Preliminary findings later suggested that Khatri's wife, Rajni Khatri, is the legal counsel for Lawrence Bishnoi. Police also said that the injured man, Sandeep, works with a non-governmental organisation.

Attackers Came on a Scooter

Initial investigation indicates that three men arrived on a scooter. One of them allegedly opened fire at the car from behind before fleeing the scene.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to confirm the number of attackers and understand the sequence of events more clearly.

Statements of the car occupants and local witnesses are being recorded. Crime and forensic teams have inspected the scene to collect evidence, including bullet shells and other materials.

Officials said a case will be registered under relevant sections of the law. They are also examining possible motives behind the attack, including whether it was targeted or linked to personal or criminal rivalry.

The Kashmere Gate area, which is one of Delhi's busiest transport hubs, witnessed a brief period of tension following the incident. Police have increased patrolling in the area to maintain security.
