JD(U) leader KC Tyagi defends Sharad Yadav over 'South Indian women' remark

New Delhi, March 14: JD(U) leader KC Tyagi on Saturday defended senior leader Sharad Yadav over his 'dark skinned' remark. Speaking to ANI, Tyagi said he Yadav might have made a wrong selection of words but his intention was not wrong.

Sixty-seven-year-old Yadav, a Rajya Sabha MP drew flak when he allegedly made the remark about South Indian women during a debate on the insurance bill in Rajya Sabha. He said: "The women of south are beautiful, their bodies...their skin ...They aren't made like this here. They know dance".

Yadav also said the proposal to raise foreign investment cap in insurance sector to 49 per cent was a reflection of our obsession with fair skin. He said the Indian matrimonials show our preference for fair skin.

The Twitterati was extremely upset with Yadav's remarks and criticised him for his remark.
