Four-Storey Building Collapses in Delhi: Two Dead, Eight Injured; Rescue Ops Ongoing

A four-storey building collapsed early Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, in the Welcome area of North East Delhi, triggering a major rescue operation. The incident occurred on Seelampur Eidgah Road near Janata Mazdoor Colony, causing widespread panic among residents.

Two people lost their lives and eight others, including a one-year-old baby, were injured when a four-storey building collapsed on Saturday morning in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi, officials said.

Among the injured are members of a family of 10 who lived in the building, as well as a few individuals who happened to be nearby at the time of the collapse.

Rescue teams have rushed eight victims to the hospital for treatment, while operations continue at the site amid fears that more people may still be trapped beneath the rubble.

Four-Storey Building Collapses In Delhi s Welcome Area 12 Feared Trapped

Emergency services were alerted to the collapse at around 7:05 AM. The area has since been cordoned off as a safety precaution, with heavy equipment and trained personnel working around the clock to clear rubble and reach survivors. The situation remains critical, and no official death toll has been released as rescue efforts continue.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another building collapse in North Delhi's Bara Hindu Rao area near Azad Market. That collapse involved a three-storey building and resulted in one death. Authorities had previously marked that structure unsafe and evacuated it ahead of time. There are ongoing concerns that metro tunneling work nearby may have contributed to the Azad Market collapse, and investigations are underway.

As for the current collapse in the Welcome area, the cause remains unknown. Officials have stated that a detailed investigation will be launched once rescue operations are completed and the site is stabilized.

The tragic incident has once again brought attention to structural safety concerns in densely populated areas of Delhi, especially during the monsoon season.
