Flooded Classrooms in Outer Delhi Spark Outrage Over School Infrastructure

Heavy rainfall in the National Capital Region has once again exposed glaring gaps in civic infrastructure, this time at Nigam Pratibha Balika Vidyalaya in Tikri Kalan village, Outer Delhi. A distressing video that has gone viral shows young students standing in knee-deep water inside their classrooms, prompting widespread public concern and criticism.

In the video shared on social media by user @mediaanurag, rainwater is seen filling the school premises, turning corridors into streams and classrooms into puddles. Parents, visibly alarmed, were forced to carry their children through the flooded campus to safety.

Waterlogging in Delhi School

"School submerged in rain, classrooms filled with knee-deep water... Parents were seen carrying their children in their arms to take them out of the school," the post read.

Public Anger Over Unsafe Conditions

The incident has ignited a flurry of reactions online. Citizens questioned how such conditions could exist in the capital of the country. Many criticised the authorities for failing to ensure basic infrastructure and student safety, especially during the monsoon.

"This is the state of our schools in Delhi? It's a disgrace," commented one user. "Our kids deserve better. Where is the accountability?"

Another post drew attention to inconsistencies in city-wide waterlogging reports. "While officials claim areas like Minto Bridge are clear, we are surrounded by overflowing drains and garbage dumps," a resident wrote.

Ongoing Rainfall and Weather Alerts

Delhi has been witnessing sustained rainfall over the past several days, offering some respite from the sweltering summer heat. However, the downpour has also brought traffic disruptions, waterlogging, and now, school flooding.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued ongoing alerts for heavy rainfall in Delhi and the surrounding NCR areas. Temperatures are expected to remain between 27°C and 31°C, with high humidity.
