Ex-Journalist Found Dead In Malviya Nagar Apartment In South Delhi

Police officials confirmed that Subhabrata Ghosh Chowdhury, a 32-year-old former journalist, was discovered dead in his leased flat in the affluent Malviya Nagar neighbourhood of South Delhi on Friday night.

Prior to his death, Chowdhury was employed at a public relations firm. He had previously worked for the news outlet ANI from 2017 to 2019. After worried family members called the police, his body was located on the floor of his one-room flat, partially decomposed. According to reports, they hadn't been able to get in touch with him since April 25.

Since his father's death in 2021, Chowdhury had been living alone, according to the Delhi Police. He had mostly withdrawn in recent days, despite having a master's degree in English literature and a postgraduate diploma from the Times School of Journalism.

According to a family member, Chowdhury stopped communicating with friends and family on April 25. He closed himself in and sealed himself off from the outer world. I haven't spoken to him since the Bengali New Year on April 15. He appeared completely regular when we messaged each other on WhatsApp. However, young people these days seldom ever open up," the relative continued.

A post on Chowdhury's LinkedIn profile that said, "Self-motivation works when external forces don't play spoilsport!" was one of his last public statements.

His body was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, on Saturday for a post-mortem examination after the finding. In order to move further with additional inquiry, authorities are still awaiting the autopsy results.
