"May pressure did work," Rahul said in Parliament on the govenment's decision to roll back the tax. He added that he always stands by those who are oppressed or victimised.
Earlier in the day, Union Finance Minister rolled back the EPF tax plan completely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had intevened after a strong objection was raised against the move to partially tax the EPF at the time of withdrawal.
He also said while making the announcement the plan to withdraw monetary limit for constribution of employers to the provident and superannuation fund of Rs 1,50,000 for tax benefits.
