Poll debacle: Sonia, Rahul Gandhi blamed;Sheila,Gehlot sing same song
Sheila Dikshit on Monday, Dec 9 was quoted as saying, "The party and government went separate ways and that was a problem. There should have been more cohesion."
Dikshity, who already resigned as Delhi CM, also added, "We didn''t understand the Kejriwal factor but there were corruption charges against him which should have been seen but people didn't."
The party and government went separate ways and that was a problem
Despite complaint against Congress party leaders, Dikshit accepted her fate while saying, "What has happened has happened. This is the people's verdict."
However, Congress spokesman Jayanti Natarajan contradicted to what Dikshit said. Confronting questions regarding poll debacle, Natarajan was quoted as saying, "Sheila Dikshit was never alone, she got all the support."
Natarajan also claimed that blaming Rahul or any other party leader for the poll results would not be right. But outgoing Rajasthan CM also gave statement which sounds similar to Dikshit.
Gehlot on Sunday, Dec 8 claimed that Congress lost in the state assembly elections because "of national issues". BJP under Vasundhara Raje's leadership won 162 seats where Congress managed to win 21 seats only.
In Delhi, Congress won only 8 seats while BJP and AAP grabbed 32 and 28 seats respectively. Even in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Congress failed to form government after being defeated by BJP.
