Digvijay supports Rahul Gandhi, says he must take over in Congress

Digvijay pushes for Rahul's leadership
New Delhi, Nov 1: Congress party seems to be in a dilemma with respect to its leadership. While clamour for Priyanka Gandhi to join the party is growing, there are some voices within the party who are backing Rahul Gandhi to lead the party.

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh in an interview to an TV channel said that Rahul Gandhi should take over the reins from his mother and party President Sonia Gandhi.

"Rahul Gandhi should take over the leadership of the party. We should support him," he said.

Singh rubbished reports suggestting that Rahul must not take charge of the party. He said: "The slump takes place in all parties. Why don't you talk about the slump in CPM or Lalu's RJD? It has nothing to do with the leadership issue."

Singh also said that the party always encouraged young leadership. "There could not be a better time for him to take over," Singh said.
