LeT in Muzaffarnagar? Riot victims not contacted, says Delhi Police
SN Srivastava, Special Commissioner of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police said two individuals from Muzaffarnagar, where deadly riots took place in August-September last year, met the accused and were told to carry out kidnappings to raise money for a mosque.
Srivastava said the two individuals, identified as Liyaqat and Zameer, are not victims of the riots. He said the statements of the duo were recorded before the magistrate but said that he wasn't aware whether the kidnappings and other criminal acts were planned to take revenge of the riots.
Manish Tewari slams communal forces
Earlier Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said parties practising communal politics should take cognisance of what the Delhi Police had said. He also defended Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who was slammed a few months ago for claiming that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI was trying to influence the youth in the riot-hit parts of western UP. He, instead, took a dig at the communal forces, saying they were fishing in troubled waters.
