Delhi Weather Forecast: Reprieve From Severe Heatwaves
According to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Delhi, it seems that severe heatwaves are no longer a threat to the region. While there are still cases of regular heatwaves, there are no more red alerts for temperatures going above 47°C.
Heatwaves Are Calming Down Soon:

For today, 24 May, there is no cause for concern over a severe heatwave, as the maximum temperature forecasted for today is only 42°C. That being said, the nights are forecast to be warm. This may be due to high humidity, as the highest humidity recorded within the last 24 hours by IMD reached about 63%.
From 25 May till 28 May, it is forecast that heatwaves will continue to affect the region in isolated areas, but there is no longer any concern for severe heatwaves affecting Delhi. The highest temperature it may reach in this time period is predicted to be 45°C on 27 May and 28 May.
From 29 May onwards, there is no alert for a heatwave so Delhiites can finally look forward to some reprieve from the heat and go out without the worry of passing out under the sun. Still, maximum temperatures untill 30 May are not going anywhere below 40°C, and the minimum won't be going anywhere below 30°C.
IMD's Advice To Combat The Heat:
While IMD has given no advice today as there is no warning for a heatwave, for the rest of the days, they've said that, "heat is tolerable for general public but moderate health concern for vulnerable people e.g. infants, elderly, people with chronic disease."
In order to combat this, they suggested the following:
- Avoid Heat Exposure.
- Wear Lightweight, Light-Coloured, Loose, Cotton Clothing.
- Use A Cloth, Hat Or Umbrella To Cover Your Head.
The advice they gave yesterday for the red alerts can also apply for those who may be vulnerable to the heat, such as keeping hydrated and drinking ORS solutions.
Other Forecasted Weather For Delhi:
There will be strong, gusty winds blowing throughout the next week with a speed of 25 to 35 km/h, with a peak on 28 May, reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h. Be careful when carrying an umbrella on that day.
There is also no sign of rain in Delhi, along with neighbouring states, as the region is expected to be dry till 29 May.
