Delhi Weather Alert: Orange Alert Given Out By IMD For Heatwave
According to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Delhi, orange alerts for heatwaves have been given out for the heatwave warnings this week, asking residents of Delhi to not just be aware, but also to be prepared to tackle the heat.
These orange alerts have only been given out for today and tomorrow, but heatwaves are likely to continue for the entire week, as has been forecast by IMD.

Delhi Weather And Temperature For The Next Week:
From today, 11 June, all the way till the end of the week on 17th June, Delhi will be experiencing heatwave after heatwave as maximum temperatures may reach anywhere between 44°C to 46°C.
Orange alerts have been given out for only the first two days of this week though, which means that while these two days will certainly be rough for Delhiites, the rest of the week has potential for the heatwaves to calm down.
Minimum temperatures have also been forecast to hover around 30°C, meaning that there won't be much reprieve from the heat even during evenings or night.
As for other weather-related forecasts, no signs of rain in Delhi or any of its neighboring regions have been predicted by IMD for the week. The skies are expected to be either partly cloudy or mainly clear, with gusty winds during the day that may reach speeds between 25 km/h to 40 km/h.
IMD's Advice For The Orange Alert Heatwaves:
In IMD's press release yesterday, they mentioned that the Orange Alerts in the region may lead heat illness symptoms for those who are either exposed to the sun for too long, or perform heavy work. Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable. IMD advised the following to help combat the heat:
- Avoid heat exposure- keep cool.
- Avoid dehydration.
- Drink sufficient water- even if not thirsty.
- Use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, buttermilk, etc. to keep yourself hydrated.
