Delhi Weather Alert! IMD Issues Heatwave Warning For Capital, Temperatures Likely To Shoot To 42°C

Delhi Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe warning as Delhi and parts of North India are poised to endure scorching temperatures that could reach a high of 42°C in the coming days. This exceptional rise in temperature has led the IMD to issue a red alert, signaling an impending severe heatwave that demands urgent attention and preparation. The forecast indicates that the heatwave will not only affect Delhi but will also extend to regions such as south Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh, with an expected increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

With the anticipated peak temperatures, Delhi is expected to experience a significant increase in daytime heat, reaching around 42°C in some areas by April 6 or 7. This prolonged period of intense heat underscores the importance of adopting necessary safety measures. The IMD's warning highlights the critical need for the public, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, to stay indoors as much as possible. The department advises on staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak sun hours, and ensuring homes and workplaces are well-ventilated to mitigate the impact of the heat.
