Delhi Water Crisis: List Of Areas To Face Fresh Water Supply Disruption On May 31 & June 1
Delhi Water Crisis: People of Delhi are likely to face water supply disruption on May 31 and June 1, said the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in a notification. According to the reports, cut in fresh water supply will take place following scheduled maintenance and repair work of the main water pipelines. Due to this, several areas of South and New Delhi may face water crisis.
The DJB is continuously working on upgradation and extension of 900 mm Kilokari main pipe, which necessitates the blockage of Drain No. 12 near Hans Bhawan at ITO.
This operation will directly affect the water supply from the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant, which has a capacity of 40 MGD, leaving several areas without water during the maintenance period.

Here is a list of areas to face temporary water supply disruption:
- Majnu ka Tilla
- Rajghat
- Vidhan Sabha
- NDMC Zone
- Hans Bhawan
- CGO Complex
- Nizamuddin
- Defence Colony
- South Extension and nearby areas.
These disruptions highlight the extensive nature of the maintenance work and its impact on the city's water supply infrastructure.
Further complicating the situation, South Delhi areas connected to the Mehrauli network will also experience water supply cuts. This is due to the integration of a new 1,000 mm pipeline at four points within the Deer Park pumping station.
The areas to be affected are:
- Mehrauli Township
- Begumpur
- Kalu Sarai
- Sarvodaya Enclave
- Vijay Mandal DDA Flats
- Azad Apartments
- Adchini
- Katwaria Sarai Village
- and Qutub Institutional Area.
These zones are served by the Malviya Nagar Water Services (MNWS) network, a public-private partnership with Suez since 2013. The DJB has warned that "The water supply will not be available or will be at low pressure on the evening of May 31 and the morning of June 1."
To mitigate the impact of this disruption, the DJB has provided helpline numbers for residents to request water tankers. These include the Central Control Room: 1916 / 23527679 / 23634469 / 9650291021, the Vasant Kunj Zone: 26137216, and the Malviya Nagar Water Services (Suez): 8427312731.
