Delhi Traffic Police Advisory: Major Road Closures On August 14 and 15– Check Affected Areas
As India prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an important advisory on X, formerly known as Tweeter aimed at preventing inconvenience to commuters in key areas of the city. This advisory is particularly relevant for those travelling near Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hoist the national flag.
In light of the Independence Day celebrations, several major roads in central Delhi will be under traffic restrictions from 4 am to 10 pm on Thursday. These measures have been put in place to manage large crowds and enhance security around Red Fort, which is the focal point of the festivities.

Over 3,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed across the national capital to regulate traffic. They will be stationed at major junctions, as well as on roads connecting the city's borders to Red Fort, to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
Restricted Roads
The following roads will be affected by traffic restrictions:
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail
- Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail
- S.P. Mukherjee Marg from H.C. Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg
- Esplanade Road and its link road to Netaji Subhash Marg

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid these areas and reduce travel delays. The Delhi Traffic Police will be actively monitoring the situation and providing updates throughout the day to ensure a smooth and secure celebration of Independence Day.
