Delhi NCR Weather: Rain, Thunderstorms & Cold Wave

Several parts of Delhi, including Rohini, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport, Badli, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Rajouri Garden, Narela, Bawana, Alipur, and Kanjhawala, are likely to witness rain in the next few hours. The wet conditions will extend to parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, covering areas like Gurugram, Manesar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rewari, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Saharanpur, Shamli, and Baghpat. The IMD has also warned of isolated incidents of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in parts of Najafgarh, Jafarpur, and Bahadurgarh within the next hour.

Alongside rainfall, Delhi continues to grapple with cold temperatures. The city recorded 11.4°C at 5:30 AM, with the maximum temperature expected to settle around 18°C during the day. Meanwhile, air pollution remains a persistent issue, with Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) still in the 'very poor' category at 316, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The dense fog has caused significant disruptions in transportation. Over 51 trains were delayed, and several flights had to be rescheduled due to near-zero visibility in parts of the national capital. The foggy conditions have made travel increasingly difficult, adding to the challenges posed by the ongoing cold wave.

In response to the slight improvement in air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has lifted Stage-III restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). However, Stage-I and Stage-II measures remain in effect to prevent further deterioration of air quality.

With the rainfall expected to continue for the next few hours, residents are advised to stay indoors where possible and remain cautious while traveling. The combination of cold temperatures, rainfall, and fog is likely to persist, making it essential to stay updated with weather advisories.
