Delhi-NCR Hit By Heavy Rain And Waterlogging; IMD Issues 'Yellow' Alert For Capital
Delhi NCR, including Gurgaon and Noida, experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogged streets and significant traffic congestion.
Parts of Delhi NCR, including Gurgaon and Noida, experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday afternoon, leading to significant traffic congestion.
The downpour resulted in waterlogged streets across the capital, causing disruptions in commutes and public transit.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi due to the heavy rains. The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels reaching 85 per cent. Forecasts suggest that light rains and thunderstorms may continue in the coming days.
Weather Forecast and Alerts
The maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, with rain likely persisting throughout the day. Temperatures are predicted to stay low, with minimum temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week. Although no rain is forecasted for September 5, light showers are anticipated over the weekend.
According to IMD's 10-day forecast for Delhi, cloudy skies and potential rains and thunderstorms are expected until September 14. However, no additional colour alerts have been issued for the rest of the week.
Impact on Daily Life
Heavy rainfall on Monday led to traffic congestion caused by waterlogging and potholes in various parts of Delhi. Areas such as India Gate, Janpath Road, R K Puram, Kalindikunj, and Gandhinagar experienced light showers that morning.
Previously, on August 29, heavy rainfall severely affected the national capital. Visuals from Dhaula Kuan showed severe traffic congestion due to waterlogged roads. Commuters faced difficulties as they waded through flooded streets while vehicles struggled to navigate.
Gurgaon Faces Severe Waterlogging
The rains on Wednesday caused significant waterlogging in Gurgaon. Residents shared visuals showing knee-deep water on roads. This situation further exacerbated traffic issues as vehicles found it challenging to move through flooded areas.
"The waterlogging in the area had slowed down the traffic," said a local resident. "Commuters were wading through the waterlogged road while vehicles were struggling to cross."
Recent Rainfall Events
On Monday morning, parts of Delhi including India Gate and Janpath Road saw light showers. Heavy rains earlier that day led to traffic congestion due to waterlogging and potholes in various parts of the city.
The IMD has not yet issued any colour alerts for the rest of this week but continues to monitor weather conditions closely. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and plan their commutes accordingly.
The recent weather patterns indicate that Delhi NCR will continue experiencing fluctuating weather conditions with intermittent rains and thunderstorms expected over the next few days.
