Delhi Honours Nurses on International Nurses Day, CM Rekha Gupta Visits LNJP Hospital

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the Delhi government paid tribute to the dedication, compassion and commitment of nurses who continue to serve patients and families during some of their most difficult moments. Across hospitals and healthcare centres in the national capital, nurses were recognised for their vital role in strengthening the healthcare system and providing round-the-clock care with humanity and professionalism.

As part of the observance, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a surprise visit to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, where she interacted with members of the nursing staff and thanked them for their service. The visit was seen as a heartfelt acknowledgement of the efforts made by nurses who often work long hours under challenging conditions to ensure patient care and recovery.

During the interaction, nurses shared their experiences from hospital wards and emergency care units, while the Chief Minister praised their dedication and commitment towards public health. Officials said the visit reflected the government's intention to recognise frontline healthcare workers not just through words, but also through policy support and institutional reforms.

The Delhi government reiterated its commitment to strengthening and empowering the nursing community through a series of healthcare initiatives. Among the major reforms highlighted was a substantial increase in stipends for nursing interns, aimed at improving financial support and encouraging young healthcare professionals entering the field.

The administration also emphasised continued investment in healthcare infrastructure, professional training and welfare measures for nurses and medical staff across Delhi hospitals.
