Delhi Elections 2025: Blow To AAP As 4 Leaders Join The BJP Ahead Of The Polls

In a setback to the AAP, four leaders have left the party and joined the BJP on Tuesday.

Four leaders include Municipal councillor Rekha Rani from Bhajanpura and councillor Shilpa Kaur from Khyala. They joined the saffron party in the presence of BJP leaders Harsh Malhotra, Manoj Tiwari and Kamaljeet Sehrawat.

The other two are former Ghonda MLA Sridatt Sharma and Chaudhary Vijendra, who was parliamentary representative of AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Recently, Kapil Naagar, had contested elections twice from the Kamla Nagar ward of Model Town Legislative Assembly, joined the party along with 100 party workers from the AAP.

However, several party workers from the BJP and the Congress have joined the AAP recently. Notably, Mamta Verma, former Congress corporation councillor candidate from Wazirpur assembly, Banwari Lal Upadhyay and Mohammad Ikram, former Congress corporation candidate from Kirari assembly joined the AAP.

The polling for the 70 seats in the national capital will be held on February with counting scheduled to be held on February 8.

BJP Star Campaigners

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its second manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, intensifying its efforts to secure a win in the national capital. The party also announced a star-studded campaign line-up, featuring prominent leaders who will spearhead rallies across the city.

Top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Nitin Gadkari, are set to address rallies as part of the party's aggressive campaign strategy. Additionally, Chief Ministers and senior leaders from various states, such as Yogi Adityanath, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, will join the campaign trail.
