Most exit polls have predicted a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, marking their return to power in Delhi after 27 years. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has ruled the capital for three consecutive terms, is expected to secure the second position, while the Congress is projected to finish third.
Key Contestants and Constituencies
A total of 699 candidates contested in the elections. Both AAP and Congress fielded candidates in all 70 constituencies, while the BJP contested 68 seats, leaving two for its allies-Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
One of the most closely watched battles is in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP chief and outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal contested to retain his seat. The BJP and Congress fielded Parvesh Sahib Singh and Sandeep Dikshit, respectively-both sons of former Delhi Chief Ministers.
