Kejriwal Accuses EC Of Withholding Voters' Data, Shares New Website Created By AAP For 'Transparency'

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal today accused the Election Commission of refusing to upload data on the number of votes polled in each assembly constituency in Delhi, despite multiple requests. The votes from Wednesday's Delhi assembly election will be counted tomorrow.

"EC has refused to upload Form 17C and number of votes polled per booth in each assembly despite several requests. Aam Aadmi Party has made a website transparentelections.in where we have uploaded all the Form 17C of every assembly. This form has all the details of votes polled in each booth," Kejriwal stated in a post on X.

"Through the day, we will present the data of every assembly and every booth in a tabulated format as well so that every voter can access this information. This is something that the Election Commission should have done in the interest of transparency, but it is unfortunate that they are refusing to do it," the former Delhi chief minister added.

His party is seeking a third consecutive victory in the national capital.

However, exit polls have largely favoured the BJP, with many projecting that the party will secure a majority in the 70-member house of the Union Territory.

Form 17C, as outlined in the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, consists of two sections-one detailing the total number of votes recorded on polling day and the other listing the votes received by each candidate, which forms the basis of the election results.

AAP leader Gopal Rai expressed confidence in the party winning 50 seats, citing estimates provided by AAP candidates based on their ground reports. This figure is significantly lower than the near-total victory the party achieved in the previous Delhi election.

On Thursday, Kejriwal, who is contesting from the New Delhi seat, alleged that the BJP was attempting to entice AAP candidates by offering Rs 15 crore each.

The BJP, however, dismissed the accusation.

Following this, the Principal Secretary to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena wrote to the Chief Secretary, instructing an investigation into Mr Kejriwal's claim by the Anti-Corruption Branch.

Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 60.42 per cent on Wednesday.

One exit poll suggested the BJP could secure between 51 and 60 seats, while two others forecasted an AAP victory. According to the P-MARQ exit poll, the BJP is expected to win between 39 and 49 seats, AAP between 21 and 31 seats, and Congress 0 or 1 seat.

Matrize's exit poll predicted a closely contested election, projecting BJP's win in 35-40 seats and AAP's in 32-37 seats, with Congress potentially securing one seat.

WeePreside's exit poll, however, suggested an AAP win with 46-52 seats, while BJP was projected to secure 18-23 seats, and Congress 0 or 1 seat.
