Delhi Election 2025: CEC Warns Against Misconduct And Gender Insults
As the Delhi Assembly Election 2025 draws closer, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has issued a strong warning to political campaigners, stressing the importance of maintaining respect and etiquette throughout the election process.
His message comes as part of the Election Commission's continued efforts to ensure a fair, transparent, and respectful environment for all participants.

Threats to Polling Officers: A Serious Concern
Kumar raised concerns over threats made against polling officers, emphasizing that such behavior, though disruptive, is often met with restraint from the Election Commission to preserve a fair and neutral playing field. "People also go to the level of threatening the polling officers, but we restrain ourselves because it disturbs the level playing field," he said. This statement reflects the challenges faced by the Commission in ensuring that the election process runs smoothly without external disturbances.
Campaign Etiquette: A Duty for Leaders
The CEC also pointed out the crucial responsibility of star campaigners and political leaders in maintaining campaign decorum. He reminded everyone involved in political campaigns that it is their duty to uphold a high standard of conduct. "It is the duty of star campaigners and those who are involved in political campaigns to take care of etiquette," he stated. This serves as a reminder to all political figures to ensure that their actions align with the principles of fair and respectful campaigning.
Zero Tolerance for Gender Disrespect
Perhaps the most forceful part of Kumar's statement was his warning regarding disrespect toward women. He made it clear that any form of sexist or derogatory remarks would be met with severe consequences. "If someone says something about women, we will be very, very harsh, this is our warning," he declared. The CEC's firm stance on this issue underlines the Election Commission's commitment to creating an environment free from gender-based discrimination during the election.
A Call for Fair and Respectful Campaigning
Kumar's remarks underscore the Election Commission's commitment to ensuring that the upcoming election remains fair, transparent, and free from any form of misconduct. His call for campaigners to be mindful of their actions and words is a critical reminder that everyone involved in the election process must respect the rules of fair play. With Delhi Assembly Election 2025 fast approaching, the CEC's message is clear: uphold dignity, promote fairness, and ensure a level playing field for all.
