Delhi Building Collapse: 11 Confirmed Dead, Rescue Ops On To Retrieve Trapped Residents
At least 11 people have been confirmed dead and numerous others are still trapped beneath the wreckage in the Mustafabad neighborhood of northeast Delhi when a horrific building collapsed due to an abrupt change in the weather early Friday. Overnight, the city had severe winds, thunderstorms, and a lot of rain, all of which are thought to have contributed to the structural failure.
About 22 people were inside the four-story structure in Shakti Vihar when it collapsed at 2:30 in the morning, according to police reports. After being rescued, 14 people were sent to GTB Hospital, where four were pronounced dead. Rescue operations are still underway since authorities think that 8 to 10 individuals may still be trapped beneath the debris.

Rekha Gupta, the chief minister of Delhi, has promised that extensive rescue and relief efforts are in progress and has requested an investigation into the occurrence. She affirmed that the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) are among the organizations on the scene and coordinating to address the crisis. "Everything that needs to be done to give the injured the right care has been done," she stated.
According to Divisional Fire Officer Rajendra Atwal, at approximately 2:50 am, the fire department received an emergency call regarding the event. The entire structure had collapsed when the rescue crews arrived. People are currently being pulled from the debris by NDRF staff and firefighters.
On social media, former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal offered his condolences and asked his party members to help with the rescue.
