Delhi Blast: CM Atishi Slams Centre For Security Lapse, Draws Parallel With 'Mumbai Underworld'

Amidst a multi-agency investigation into the mysterious explosion in Delhi's Rohini today, Chief Minister Atishi criticised the ruling BJP over the state of law and order in the capital.

The Union Home Ministry has control over Delhi Police, which has long been a contentious issue between the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.

The blast, which occurred at 7:47 am, destroyed a wall of the CRPF school in Delhi's Prashant Vihar. Although no one was injured, the explosion shattered car windows and damaged shop hoardings.

Several security agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), CRPF, and the National Security Guard (NSG), are now investigating the incident.

In a post on X, Atishi stated that the blast had exposed Delhi's "crumbling" law and order.

"The responsibility to maintain law and order in Delhi lies with the BJP's central government. But the BJP ignores this and instead spends its time disrupting the work of Delhi's elected government. This is why Delhi's situation now mirrors that of Mumbai during the Underworld era. Bullets are being fired openly, gangsters are extorting money, and criminals are emboldened. The BJP neither has the intent nor the capability (to manage this)," she remarked.

"If by mistake, Delhiites hand them (the BJP) control of the Delhi government, the state of hospitals, power, and water supply will mirror the current law and order situation in the city," the Chief Minister added.

Delhi Police have registered a case under the Explosives Act and have launched an in-depth investigation into the Rohini blast. Sniffer dogs and forensic teams have been deployed to search for clues.

Initial investigations suggest that a crude bomb may have caused the explosion, with police discovering a white powder-like substance at the site.

The area has been cordoned off for mapping, and officers are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible for planting the device. According to sources, police are not ruling out the possibility of a conspiracy.
