In view of the Delhi Assembly polls on February 5, the schools, colleges and educational institutions will remain closed.

Since many educational institutions will double as polling stations, they will remain closed on election day to facilitate voting.

Holiday For Government & PVT Companies

Also, government and private companies will get paid holiday on Wednesday. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz confirmed the arrangements, stating, "Paid holiday has been declared for the shop and establishment and also the staffs working in government and the private sectors and our bordering states, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, they have also declared a paid holiday. We have communicated and it's being widely publicised... I request all the voters of Delhi to utilise this application and also mobile phones, cameras, smart watches or any kind of electronic items are banned inside the polling station..."

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has also announced that all central government offices, including industrial units in Delhi, will be closed to allow employees to participate in the voting process.

To accommodate voters, special transport arrangements have been made. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start operations at 4 AM on February 5, ensuring smooth transit for early voters.

Essential Shops To Remain Open

However, essential services such as hospitals and pharmacies will continue to operate like usual. Grocery stores, restaurants, and other businesses will also remain open.

Special Crime Branch's Special CP Devesh Chandra Srivastava provided an update on the security measures, stating, "We have caught 14 proclaimed offenders...we have registered 25 FIRs in connection with the violation of MCC...in the last 24 hours, we have arrested 340 people under various sections of BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita)..."

In the 2015 elections, AAP dominated with 62 out of 70 seats, leaving BJP with just eight. Now, as AAP seeks a third consecutive term, the BJP is determined to break its nearly three-decade-long losing streak in the state. Congress, meanwhile, faces an uphill task to avoid yet another election without securing a single seat.
