Delhi Assembly elections: VVPAT to make its debut in Delhi

The VVPAT, which has been previously introduced in Nagaland polls, will make its debut in Delhi.
Under the VVPAT, the voters get a paper slip with a serial number, name and symbol of the candidate they vote for.
The Election Commission on Sunday announced that the VVPAT will be introduced in Delhi in the coming elections.
VVPAT to be introduced in New Delhi constituency only
"VVPAT has been used in the Nagaland polls, and will be used in Delhi for the first time," said deputy election commissioner Alok Shukla. This option however will only be inducted in the New Delhi constituency.
Shukla added that when a voter casts his vote, the printer will generate a slip which would have certain details like serial number, name and the symbol of the party for whom the vote has been cast for.
In the New Delhi constituency, a tough political fight is expected because Congress' Sheila Dikshit will be fighting against Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and BJP's former Delhi chief Vijendar Gupta.
