Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: BJP Adopts 2-Phase Strategy, Targets AAP’s Governance Failures

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a two-phase campaign strategy for the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, with a primary focus on exposing the governance failures of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the past decade.

This approach aims to prevent AAP from securing a third consecutive term in the capital.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

Phase One: Highlighting AAP's Governance Issues

According to a senior BJP leader, the first phase will continue until the announcement of candidates for the remaining seats. During this period, the party will intensify its efforts to highlight AAP's shortcomings in multiple sectors.

As part of this campaign, BJP will install posters across Delhi comparing the governance achievements of BJP-ruled states with those of the AAP government. For instance, the party plans to juxtapose the Sabarmati riverfront project in Ahmedabad with the polluted Yamuna river in Delhi to emphasize governance differences.

Phase Two: BJP's Vision for Delhi

Following the announcement of the final list of candidates, the BJP will shift its focus to the second phase, detailing its plans for Delhi if elected. Party workers at the district and mandal levels have already been mobilized to disseminate this message.

During a recent Parivartan rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) is incomplete without a Viksit Delhi. The BJP aims to leverage this message to garner support for its campaign.

Strategic Approach: Avoiding Hindutva Narrative

Unlike in other states, the BJP is unlikely to emphasize Hindutva politics in its Delhi campaign. Sources indicate that party leaders have been advised against making anti-Muslim statements, a move influenced by the BJP's recent by-poll victory in Uttar Pradesh's Muslim-majority Kundarki constituency.

Leadership Strategy: No CM Face Announcement

Unlike Haryana, where a chief ministerial candidate was projected, the BJP will not announce a CM face in Delhi. Instead, the party will rely on Prime Minister Modi's leadership and a collective team approach. This decision is aimed at mitigating internal factionalism within the Delhi BJP unit.

"If we secure a majority to form the government, we will introduce a fresh face for the chief ministerial position," a senior BJP leader stated.

With election day approaching, BJP's structured two-phase campaign is set to challenge AAP's decade-long governance while presenting an alternative vision for Delhi's future.
